Contemporary Handmade Art Glass Jewelry by Accessoreez
Tweet It’s all in the family with sisters, Leslie Huston and Shelly Harper. Accessoreez , their collection of contemporary art glass jewelry is a successful amalgamation of their respective skills in art glass borosilicate, bead work and metal work. I am so glad they joined my Twitter community because that’s how I came to know about their gorgeous work. Their multi-disciplinary collection is truly inspirational! Their deft use of color from oceanic to desert hues in the handmade hot fired glass are enhanced with their choices of other materials such as gemstones and hammered copper and silver. My favorite pieces from their collection are their stunning choker necklaces and the cuff bracelets. The art glass certainly takes center stage whether the cuffs are solid or much more airy. Handmade Jewelry from Santa Fe & Taos
Now for the jewelry part of our trip to Santa Fe & Taos. I visited a handful of bead and mineral stores which were not very notable. But two stood out. One was called Ritual Adornments in Santa Fe that was pretty cool. They have great photos on their website. There was another shop in Santa Fe that I was told was really unique. My husband drove me over and it was closed! It was Wednesday, our last day in Santa Fe and some stores close because it’s so quiet in the middle of the week. So I missed out Gloriannas .

Unique Handmade Jewelry Box as a Present
Creating beautiful objects has been in the nature of man from time immemorial. A jewelry box in marquetry is one such innovation where thin slivers of different colored wood are pieced together in a complex design. Such work requires precision cutting as well as gluing to a surface in a way that the entire unit looks as one. Marquetry is an evolution from the art of inlay and is also known as Moaragh. This form of wood based decoration first began with the Persian and Egyptian cultures primarily in their religious as well as royal decor. With time, this form of beautification found its way onto smaller surfaces such as that of jewelry boxes. On close inspection you will see that a genuine Marquetry jewelry box does not use drawings or color of any sort. Special hand tools are used to cut out lines that will be filled in with thin pieces of wood that have been sliced at precise angles from trees, with specific tools.

Handmade Jewelry Boxes Embellished With Marquetry: Eco-Friendly and Stylish
Marquetry embellished wooden jewelry boxes are not only beautiful, but also very useful. Using thin slivers of various materials like wood and metal, marquetry is able to create a picture or pattern that adds a unique identity to anything. This beauty is the result of the high-level craftsmanship and expertise that can only be delivered by a true artisan. Before French kings used marquetry in their palaces and Arabs developed it to be part of their culture, it was in Italy in the 16th century that this art form started. Opera de Commessi was the inspiration for marquetry. Since the 1980s, a technique called piercing that was made by Remy Vriez has been used by marquetry artisans and in the 2000s, the laser cutting that uses CAD software to produce veneer pieces is being propagated for its ease of use. Marquetry artisans make use of different materials in making their masterpiece to come up with a beautiful product.

Handmade Jewelry by BeaderBubbe
Morning all! Hope everyone is enjoying a very festive start to the month of July! Happy Canada Day for a few days ago, and of course Happy 4th of July for tomorrow! I have had reason to celebrate this week all the way from here in the UK as it has been my little man’s 4th birthday! And in essence he has had 2 birthdays (lucky monkey!) since his “real” one fell on a weekday (we saw Kung Fu Panda 2! So cool!), and we hosted his epic fancy dress party yesterday (hosted by Wilma Flinstone and Batman of course… oh the awesomeness!). I will have a post about it in a few days, and images too! But yes as a result my week has been full and this post is obviously late for which I apologise! So for today I have the work of BeaderBubbe to show my readers. Enjoy! BESTeam Mosaic All items are clickable and will take you directly to BeaderBubbe ‘s listings… Agnes is a very busy all round crafter, Mother and Grandmother hailing from Brooklyn, USA.
